The legendary early collector Michael Lopata was able to score this signature from the greatest athlete of all time on a classic photo of Thorpe in his Carlise football uniform, helmet at his side, cleats firmly planted in the turf, no doubt after some game-winning heroics. The youthful look and the confident grin would unfortunately give way in later years to a look of desperation. The inscription reads, "To Michael Lopata, Good Luck, Jim Thorpe" in black ink, a very nice Thorpe autograph rating 8/10. 7.5 x 9.5" photo is mounted on a board with an immovable stand on back. EX overall w/ some damage on the lower left corner but would look great framed.
