Lot 36: Stuart Sutcliffe Original "Elvis Presley" Painting
ITEM DESCRIPTION

||||||||||||
An incredibly vivid watercolor painting created by future Beatle Stuart Sutcliffe, while an art student in Liverpool. Its significance is obvious by its title, "Elvis Presley." Composed in the abstract style Sutcliffe was experimenting with, the painting pictures "The King" amidst guitars, musical notes, and some of his most famous songs including Blue Moon, Heartbreak Hotel and Hound Dog. Equally exciting are the words "Rock and Roll" emblazoned on the lower right corner. Certainly not a stretch to imagine the young Sutcliffe showing off his creation to his fellow student and best friend John Lennon. An incredible early relic, linking the Beatles and their biggest influence, Elvis Presley. 8x10".
