ITEM DESCRIPTION
|
||||||||||||
Vintage stick used for the Scottish game of bandy, an on-ice predecessor to ice hockey. Ancient wooden club, reinforced with wraps of heavy thread down the length of the handle. This example, by AW Gamage Ltd, was manufactured “in accordance with the rules of the Rink Hockey Association” according to the stamping above the flat, curved blade. Sticks made for bandy and those used in rink hockey (a European version played indoors on roller skates) are identical.
