Sensational cardboard poster advertising the motion picture of one of the most important fights in boxing history. Announced at the top is “Roxy Theatre Marion Aug. 7-8-9”. Catch phrases like, “Biggest Upset in Ring History” and “Greatest Heavyweight Fight of All Time!” refer to the spectacle on June 19, 1936, which commanded worldwide attention. Max Schmeling KO’d the previously undefeated Joe Louis, in what was seen as a “triumph” for Nazi Germany. Poster features great portraits of each fighter. Some creasing and wrinkling to the surface, o/w EX. Re-backing and restoration have left this piece in nice display condition. 14x21.5”.
