Miniature Hillerich & Bradsby 40LJ lovingly holds a decal portrait of Hall of Fame second baseman, Napoleon Lajoie. One of the most vital players in collecting, Lajoie was among the most respected and popular players in the game, a defining member of Connie Mack's Philadelphia Athletics, reaching batting averages as high as .426, he was the first player in history to be intentionally walked with bases loaded. Now that's respect! As a testament to the league's appreciation of such a fine and talented player, in 1910 the St. Louis Browns laid down for Lajoie in the final game of the season so that he would beat out Ty Cobb for the batting title. So concerned with winning the title was Cobb, that he decided to sit out the last two games of the season, feeling that he had an insurmountable lead. This went down as one of the most epic competitions between two players in a single season. Decal is 85% intact with the last few letters in his first name missing.
