Marvelous gouache-on-board was used to advertise/promote the upcoming fight of these two Italian boxing greats: Junior Welterweight Champion of the World Duilio Loi (1960-62) and 1948 Olympic Gold Medal Winner Ernesto Formenti (identified on verso). Surreal image of a television set below with a duplicate image of the fight going on in the ring (how’s that for infinity broadcasting). Likely used in a magazine advertisement for the fight on TV or on the cover of a boxing or TV Guide type publication. Artist has signed “Nanni” Giovanni (1888 –1969) the highly collected leading Italian painter and illustrator most famous for his glamorous art deco fashion postcards. Art is EX+.
