Ancient American boxing book is a supreme softcover published in the United States by H. Johnson of New York. Opens to elegant cover engraving by Avery and with the very full title: The American Fistiana: Containing A History of Prize Fighting in the United States with all the Principal Battles over the Last Fifty Years, and a Full and Precise Account of all the Particulars of the Great $10,000 Match Between Sullivan and Hyer with Their Method Training for the Fight As Described by Patrick Timony, Esq.” Deacquired by the Phillips Academy Library it was bound at the time with cloth tape which has protected it marvelously. This has affected only the spine and the piece is in o/w VG-EX condition.
