On October 15th, 1989 in front of fans at Northland Coliseum in Edmonton, Wayne Gretzky eclipsed Gordie Howe’s NHL record of 1850 points as he set up Bernie Nichols who found twine behind a sprawling Bill Ranford. Matted in this delightful display is the official milestone photograph taken immediately following the game featuring the beaming Wayne Gretzky and the great Gordie Howe, each holding pucks labeled to mark the historic achievement. And mounted below, the actual pair of pucks from the photo! Oilers team photographer Bob Mummery captured all of Wayne’s milestone moments during his time in Edmonton and was on hand to shoot this significant game. The pucks with the decal “Gretzky 1851” and “Howe 1850” were fashioned for the historic event and have become an integral part of Wayne’s photographic history. The photo was also used by Upperdeck to produce a card marking the moment. Also included within the blue suede display are the game stats sheet, signed by Wayne and Gordie Howe, four photos from the game including one signed by Wayne and another by Gordie and a detailing the marvelous milestone. Matted size is 36x29”. From noted collector and former Edmonton Oilers team photographer Bob Mummery.
