The Pens hosted the visiting Oilers on February 18, 2003 and bested them in overtime as Mario Lemieux scored to tie the all-time NHL overtime goals record. This striking white and black uniform with shimmering gold trim was worn that night by Mario. The fightstrap is marked “Edmonton 2/18/03” with a blue ink “18”. An exclusive tag in the collar reads “Pittsburgh Penguins, Game Worn Authentic” with a space holding the signature of Steve Latin, Equipment Manager. The Canadian flag size 56 fly tag below has Steve’s marked “66C”. A couple of nice dark stick slashes appear on the belly and Super Mario has added a gorgeous gold signature on the back numbers. No issues with the provenance on this one… it comes directly from Mario Lemieux!
