ITEM DESCRIPTION

This extremely rare game used bat from one of the most prominent hitters in the history of professional baseball is a bat collector's dream. Used by Mantle during the height of his Hall of Fame career, while he was leading the American League in hitting statistics. Adirondack 288C is block-letter style with "Mantle Type" stamped on the barrel in white lettering. Worthy of note to buyer that Adirondack "C" series bats were pro-model bats which were also distributed to colleges, but the provenance and backing LOA substantiate that this was indeed Mickey Mantle's bat. This bat was handed over by Mickey Mantle himself to Chicago White Sox batboy, Joe De Pasquale in the mid 1950's (who has included his handwritten LOA). Included are photos of the 1950's Chicago White Sox with the above mentioned batboy posing with the team. Shows signs of heavy use with cracked handle and severe ball marks around the sweet spot. Vintage "7" written twice on the knob in black marker. Mantle's game bats dating from this period are very desirable and hard to come by. Serious bat collectors - this could be your new pride and joy.
