Here’s the handsome Boston slugger in 1942, shortly after being inducted into the U. S. Navy. Ted lost 5 prime years of his career to service in World War II and the Korean Conflict. He most certainly would have challenged Babe Ruth’s 714 HR’s and been a member of the 3000 Hit Club. Ted had no regrets however. Late in his life, when asked, he said his greatest accomplishment was serving proudly with his fellow pilots.
