ITEM DESCRIPTION

A timeless image that represents much of what baseball was in the early, dark days of World War II—two teams, the Yankees versus the Red Sox, led by two of the most singularly talented players the game of baseball has ever known. Taken in 1942, Joe and Ted were basking in the glow of their historic 1941 season, 56 and .406, when their daily exploits diverted America’s attention from a looming world war. Also shown at Fenway Park are brother Dom and “Old Reliable” Tommy Henrich- two pretty good ballplayers in their own right. From the original 4”x 5” negative in NRMT condition.
