1866 Presentation copy of James Buchanan's defense of his administration is inscribed and signed by our fifteenth president (1857-61) on the front free endpaper, "William Henn Esquire, from his friend, James Buchanan." Black fountain pen signature rates an 8.5 out of a possible 10. The book entitled, Mr. Buchanan's Administration is a memoir of the secession of the Southern states after the attack on Fort Sumter. A fascinating account with regards to slavery, Abraham Lincoln, and the instability between the North and the South during the Civil War era. Hardcover book has been cunningly reserved in EX-MT condition. In original cardboard sleeve.
