Presented is the training headgear used by Muhammad Ali in preparation for his fight with Larry Holmes on October 2, 1980. Lorraine Banks, a visitor at Ali's Deer Lake training facility obtained the headgear at an open workout when Ali tossed it out to the small crowd of onlookers. After the workout, Ali signed the headgear for her. This heavily used headgear is black leather by Everlast. Vintage handwritten "M. Ali" in ink on the Everlast label. Inner tan colored portion has been boldly signed, "Muhammad Ali 19-80," by the champ in vintage ink. Completely intact with original laces. Comes with 2 LOA's - one from Lorraine Banks, and one from the collector who purchased the item from her in conjunction with Craig Hamilton of JO Sports, Inc. who researched the item expressly for Lelands auction.
