Lot 868: Ed Walsh Single Signed Baseball
ITEM DESCRIPTION
Big Ed Walsh averaged 24 wins per season over seven years with the Chicago White Sox and posted the lowest career ERA of all time (1.82) in an era where ERA was not an accepted statistic. Any single signed baseballs from this era are highly desirable as they are very tough to find, and the dominant spitballer, Ed Walsh makes it even sweeter. Blue ink on the panel rates a 7 out of a possible 10. OAL (Harridge) baseball is NRMT with a nice, even cream-colored patina. Obtained in person during 1958. Comes from the Glen Miller estate (director of the White Sox minor league farm system).
