Exceptional photo of the man who went 76 rounds for two-and-a-half hours of brutality with Jake Kilrain, the last bare-knuckle fight in boxing history. This elegant studio of the paunch and dapper "Boston Strong Boy" is nicely double matted to 13x16" and sits in a gorgeous wooden frame (22x25"). Photo exhibits exceptional contrast with almost no surface damage, except for some fading from light and some ever-so-slight foxing in a tiny spot which is not visible unless closely examined. Signature and inscription, strategically placed in upper left corner are beautifully preserved with only slight fading and virtually no bleeding whatsoever: "Compliments of John L. Sullivan - To My Friend, MM/Patrick Conly - July 1st, 1902". This is the one of the best known signed photos of Jack Sullivan extant.
