The picture of Ketchel in gentleman's clothing as listed in the catalogue is actually a postcard, not an original.
Great collection to commemorate Grand Rapids’ most revered sports hero, Stanley Ketchel. These pieces obtained from the Ketchel family: 1. Oval portrait (with hand tinted color) of Ketchel wearing Championship belt. 10x13”, EX. Decorative brass frame measures 15x20”. 2. State of Michigan Sports Hall of Fame Plaque (10x12”). Adorned with heavy bronze circular plate with the state of Michigan in the center. State emblems also adorn the center, featuring an open book with the words, “Pages of History with devotion, skill, and will to win, they earned these laurels.” “State of Michigan Sports Hall of Fame” on raised lettering around perimeter. “Stanley Ketchel” on separate plate below. Some cracking to the wooden plaque in the middle and the right side. 3. Two original photos: one of Ketchel in gentleman’s clothes (3.5x5.5”, VG), the other of Ketchel with trainer (6.5x8.5”, EX). Mounted on cardboard. 4. 10x13” portrait of Ketchel. Framed to 17x21”. 5. 1973 Grand Rapids Sports Hall of Fame Initial Awards Banquet program. Includes portrait and bio of Stan Ketchel. EX.
