A very shrewd collector acquired them by requesting each signature by formal handwritten letter, original letters included, as some players have signed right on the letter and mailed it back. In some cases, the player himself has hand written his response to the request. Includes: (baseball) Joe Sewell, Warren Spahn, Monte Irvin, Earle Combs, Buck Leonard, Joe McCarthy, Bill Dickey, Waite Hoyt, & Ted Lyons; (football) Red Grange, Lou Groza, Archie Manning, Y. A. Tittle, Raymond Berry, Clyde Turner & Paul Hornung; (hockey & basketball) Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Wilt Chamberlain (stamped signature), & Bobby Orr. Signatures are almost all perfect and Mint. Letters are EX-MT to Mint. Comes with a 1971 Yankees program (EX) signed by Thurman Munson as well as a hard cover copy of Joseph Reichler’s 30 Years of Baseball’s Great Moments, signed on the inside cover by “Cool Papa” Bell, Leonard, Grove, Haines, Coveleskie, Ford, Waner, Cronin, Kelly, Marquard, Conlan, Giles & Killebrew. Inside pages contain signatures from Spahn (2), Musial (2), Paige (2), Feller, DiMaggio, Haddix, Mantle, Yaz, Rose, Carew, Aaron & more.
