Lot 1333: Late 1940’s Rockford Peaches Pennant

A rare pennant from the Rockford Peaches of the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League (1943-1954), a league formulated during WWII. With the major leagues considerably diminished due to the need for American troops in the war, the women’s league flourished as a result of the combination of a highly competitive skill levels and Hall of Fame mangers like Jimmie Foxx, Dave Bancroft & Max Carey. The league survived even after the revitalization of the major leagues, but folded in 1954. The height of the AAGPBL was 10 teams in 1948. Red banner with “ROCKFORD” in white lettering across it and an image of a female player in uniform and “Boost the Rockford Peaches” on a peach. Approx. 20” in length. EX.
