ITEM DESCRIPTION

Delightful 19th century porcelain figurine of the most famous sideshow freaks that ever lived. Eng & Chang Bunker, the original Siamese Twins, from whom the term "Siamese Twin" was derived. The two brothers were born in Siam (Thailand) in 1811 and were connected at the chest. Under their managers, they gave demonstrations and lectures all over the world, particularly in U.S. locations. Interestingly, the two brothers fathered 21 children between them with two sisters to whom they were married. 3" tall figure is a spitting image of the biological oddities. Likely sold as a souvenir while the brothers were on display to the general public. This piece is believed to be German, with the words, "Siam Zwillinge" (translates as "Siamese twins") engraved on the front of the podium. Nicely painted and in Excellent condition.
