Lot 1052: 1958 Carl Mays Game Worn Old Timer Complete Uniform

Gray Flannel jersey, pants & stirrups were worn by Carl Mays for an Old Timers game at Boston in 1958. He is most remembered for delivering the pitch that killed Ray Chapman during the 1920 pennant race. Boston Red Sox jersey with blue felt lettering, “Boston” across the chest and “34” large on the verso. Front left tail tagging is “Tim McAuliffe” with [size] 48 tag below. “58 48-4” embroidered in blue thread. Matching pants with “42-30-58” embroidered in red thread in the waist along with the “McAuliffe” tag. “#34” written in black marker (faded from washing). “#45” is also written in the same marker and crossed out. Complete with matching stirrups. Strong use to entire uniform. LOA from the family of Carl Mays.
