Box for American Chicle gum features the classic American baseball hero of the decade, Christy Mathewson as its promoter. Pasted to the underside of the lid is a full color ad with image of Mathewson, one of the original 5 inductees into baseball’s Hall of Fame. Box was once was filled with pieces of this gum (2 for 1 cent as advertised) and the lid was propped upright by a piece of string on either side to reveal this eye-catching sign.
