Three Cleveland Indians Publications With Shoeless Joe Jackson and Addie Joss

Three Cleveland Indians Publications With Shoeless Joe Jackson and Addie Joss

1) Rare 1913 Sporting Life (framed), has Shoeless Joe Jackson on cover. 2) 1907 Sporting Life W601 style with Lajoie, Joss, Flick. Plus, amazingly rare Addie Joss nearly full-page framed photo on Supplemental Page (approx. 18x23"). Photo has darkening from sun except where magazine apparently covered the supplemental photo. Joss, Hall of Fame pitcher, "the most mourned man in baseball", passed away just prior to the 1911 season from tuberculosis meningitis. This issue includes a plethora of baseball articles; one example, a fascinating article about Philadelphia A's pitcher Rube Waddell - a figurative snapshot (though an extreme) of the off-season working life of a baseball player of the time when most players needed the money. The article, referring to Waddell as "erratic", details his incredible concurrent off-season jobs: bartending, ticket-taking, working as a movie theater barker, playing football and about to add playing basketball and (yes) polo. Perusing this fascinating issue provides the nitty-gritty details of a trip back in time
