Last Game At Sportsman's Park Handpainted Ticket Sign

Last Game At Sportsman's Park Handpainted Ticket Sign

When Sportsman's Park closed this sign was taken down, so this piece has true a place in Cardinals history as it was hung until the last game on May 8th, 1966. They let the fans take anything they wanted and this was taken by a true fan. The sign is 14x30x.25", hand-painted and artist-signed by Olive Kempf, the local sign painter who took great pride in his work. The sign has several layers of paint, where printing and prices were changed over the years. Made of heavy particle board, there was some damage incurred when it was removed from the wall; on the front it appears as a half-inch hole. One of the greatest signs we've ever seen and reminiscent of a time when things were still done by hand.
