1986 Mark McGwire Game Used Rookie Bat (34.5”)

1986 Mark McGwire Game Used Rookie Bat (34.5”)

Adirondack Big Stick 256B used by McGwire when he came up in August of ’86. A rookie Big Mac shattered the single-season home run record for a rookie the following season with 49, starting a trend that lasted 16 seasons. 16 seasons of groundbreaking power numbers, re-writing baseball’s record books, and rivaling long ball distances of even the greatest. Although his single-season record has since been broken, it will be difficult for any predecessor to hit home runs with the amount of power and reliability that Big Mac exhibited time and time again. Retiring with 583 career home runs as the most consistent home run hitter ever, the future Hall of Famer offers up this piece of lumber from his rookie era. A significant early McGwire bat, pounded with use and cracked barrel. Knob is stamped with “256B 351 6”. “MAC” handwritten in black marker at both ends.
