1966 Luis Aparicio Baltimore Orioles Game Worn Jersey

1966 Luis Aparicio Baltimore Orioles Game Worn Jersey

<p>"That little guy is just about the best shortstop I've ever seen. I can't imagine how anybody could have been any better, no matter how far back you go," said manager Ralph Houk about the 5'9", 159 lb. Luis Aparicio, known as "Little Louie." Aparicio is the first Venezuelan to be elected to the Hall of Fame. He was no slouch as a hitter, amassing 2,677 hits. But it was as a defensive wiz and a superior base stealer that he made his mark. He was the American League Rookie of the Year in 1956 with the Chicago White Sox, and he was a key player on the Chicago "Go-Go" Sox in 1959 when the "Running Sox" took the American League pennant. Aparicio helped the Baltimore Orioles to become the World Series champions in 1966 as he hit .276 with 182 hits, tied for second in the American league. Aparicio was a 9-time winner of a Gold Glove and a 9-time AL stolen base king. The jersey is a flannel short-sleeved white home jersey with buttons. "Orioles" is in orange script across the chest. Under the "Orioles" on the chest is a small black "11". On the back is a large orange "11". On the outside left front tail is "Wilson" and "40" for size. Under the above tag is a tag that reads "66-3" which represents the year and set of the jersey. On the top back, the name has been altered/replaced, as black replacement letters have been applied. There is scuffing around the letter "P" in the name. and there are two tiny holes over the "R" and the "C" in the name. The jersey represents a nice opportunity to possess the game used jersey of a Hall of Famer.</p>
