1954-55 Ted Williams Boston Red Sox Signed Game Worn Uniform with Harry Agganis Memorial Armband - Displayed in Boston's "The Sports Museum" (MEARS A10)

Spectacular Ted Williams Red Sox game worn uniform dating from 1954 and 1955. One of the two finest known Ted Williams uniforms in existence, this uniform maintains the perfect balance of great wear and great condition; a difficult symbiosis in this field. It achieves this as well as any uniform we have ever inspected up close. 1) Jersey - 15 team repairs! Tim McAuliffe tag with embroidered "1954, 46, 1 in". Signed in neck in black marker and perfect placement for display; The Splindid Splinter even added his number 9. 2) Pants - 32 team repairs! Tim McAuliffe tag in waist along with the following embroidery "No 39, 1955, 36, 30 ins" and handwritten "T.W." Signed on right leg in bold black marker and the signature measures over half a foot long. Adding to the historic nature of this lot, a black band is on the left sleeve in memory of Harry Agganis, who passed away in June of 1955. Agganis was a budding star who passed up a potential football career before joining the Red Sox in 1954. The following year he was struck with an early-season bout of pneumonia, which is believed to have caused complications leading to his tragic death from a pulmonary embolism on June 27 of '55, one of the great tragedies in Boston sports history. This uniform was displayed in Boston's "The Sports Museum" for many years and shown in the listing is a photo of the uniform being prominently displayed. MEARS A10 LOA included; a set as pure, perfect, and unique as Teddy Ballgame's hitting prowess.
