1941 World Colored Champions Kansas City Monarchs Advertising Poster

1941 World Colored Champions Kansas City Monarchs Advertising Poster

The Kansas City Monarchs lasted longer than any other Negro League team, spanning from 1920 to 1965, while also sending more players to the major leagues than any other. This rare, single-game poster promoting the Monarchs' match-up with Boeing at Lawrence Stadium in Wichita, KS is a genuine treasure, measuring 16.5" x 11" on heavy cardboard. The pennant graphic describes the team as "WORLDS COLORED CHAMPIONS" and the roster was loaded with great talent including Hall of Famers Satchel Paige, Willard Brown, Connie Johnson and Hilton Smith. There is a broken corner which has been repaired with archival tape, and there is evidence of foxing but otherwise grades as EX.
