1911 Washington Senators Baseball from Opening Day

1911 Washington Senators Baseball from Opening Day

In front of a record-breaking crowd of 16,000, Chief Executive President Taft tossed the first ball to pitcher, Dolly Gray from his box in the new grand stand. The Washington Senators would beat the visiting Boston Red Sox team 8-5. This ball from that opener is an astonishing artifact. The black ink inscriptions, although somewhat faded, allow us to date this OAL ball to this exact game. “Washington April 12, 1911” appears on one panel. “Washington 8 – Boston 5”. Ball shows considerable use and toning.
