1866 Philadelphia Athletics Complimentary Ball Invitation & Ticket (3)

One of the great teams of the 1860s National Association, the Philadelphia Athletics featured some of the early baseball greats including sporting good magnates Al Reach and Dick McBride. Offered is an invitation and ticket to the "Complimentary Ball" for the "Athletic Base Ball Club" held at the American Academy of Music on February 22, 1866. Nearly the entire team is listed on the invite to as well as veterans of the recently ended Civil War and the most prominent men of Philadelphia. The ticket itself is a piece of art. Absolutely gorgeous with gold leaf overlay and bright printed colors (2.75x5"). Accompanied with its original invitation (5x8" closed) and original envelope (3x5").
